Being sexually healthy means being in a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to your sexuality. This definition goes beyond the commonly held belief that sexual health is merely "the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity". Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, and an appreciation of the importance of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences.
We are glad to see the term "sexual health" had been more widely used in Hong Kong by various organisations since our inception. There is much more understanding of what is "sexual health" by the medical profession and even the society.
HK Sexual Health Centre
At the HK Sexual Health Centre, we aim to provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to managing sexual health issues in both male and female regardless of sexual orientation. There are still many stigmas and taboos related to sexual matters, and therefore a lot of people feel embarrassed talking about their problems with health care professionals. At the HKSHC, we provide an environment that is comfortable, respectful and to facilitate open communication. There are three main areas of sexual health issues:
1. Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) or Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) - including HIV/ADIS;
2. Sexual dysfunctions - such as erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, sexual desire problems, sexual relationship problems and vaginisumus.
3. Reproductive and contraceptive consultation.
At HK Sexual Health Centre, we deal with a wide range of sexual health issues or provide you with the most approciate referral. This website mainly focuses on male and female sexual dysfunctions and reproductive health. More detailed information on sexually transmitted diseases and HIV can be found on our other related website: www.std-hiv-clinic.hk.
